He’s always had the potential and the talent but now it’s just a question of whether he can find some consistency. Then he can become one of the world’s best
As an individual player he’s probably good enough to be a legend, but it’s the same with Gerrard and Lampard, the England team just isn’t going to be successful enough to produce legendary status for any player.
Remember the name: Wayne Rooney! Boy, were they right when they said that. Rooney is obviously on the way to become another Beckham except with all the glamour and celebrity that has clouded Beckham’s athletic abilities. He is a fantastic player, we see it from his Everton days. He has a very important quality-passion. He has passion for soccer and that is going to take him all the way.
Definitely has, he always has. He just needs fate to give him a break from injuries. Capello has helped, I believe, to give him back his confidence and instinct. SAF has kept his word and given him the chance to play his game and style. I think he is demanding of himself and is working hard to reach his potential. Maturity is also a key element. When he gets angry he goes off track, now he seems to be channeling that aggression correctly and back into his game. Great to see. He will have dry patches re scoring again, every striker does, but I feel now as he gets older the best of him is beginning to surface.
Possibly if he can concentrate fully on his game and not get involve with stupid goading of supporters like he did on Saturday, and stop screaming at refs when they don’t give him free kicks. There’s no doubting his talent but his behaviour on the field is pretty poor
