Has English football got so bad that they’re on equal footing as the US?

birdfightboy asked:

In terms of future growth and development, how can any logical Brit think that the only problem is the coach? It’s a grassroots problem. Professional english football is going backwards in terms of its national level of play.

They need to stop allowing foreigners flood into the EPL and take away development opportunities for young brits.

US are better. FIFA will surely rank England lower, before the game Croatia was ranked higher than England I guess FIFA know what they are doing.

English football it’s not bad. Players are not trying enough, they don’t deserve such a fans, as England have!

  3. Brianna Says:

Wrong, mate. It’s our FA who don’t appoint managers of a high enough calibre.

Foreign players help to raise the standards of English football and English players

Competition for places gives incentive to players to improve themselves.

Players who are good enough to get into their first team will do so regardless of their nationality.

If we were to limit the amount of foreigners playing in our country then our players, teams, and leagues would suffer in the long run.

Not yet. But if MLS salaries would increase, there might be a greater incentive for America’s better athletes to choose to pursue soccer careers.

Imagine this as a starting eleven…

Ben Wallace (6’9 NBA center– ABSOLUTE BEAST on D)

    Chone Figgins (baseball’s Mr. Versatility)
Derek Jeter (NY Yankees shortstop -future Hall of Famer)
    Troy Polamalu (Pittsburgh Steelers safety)
Charles Peanut Tillman (Chicago Bears cornerback)

Devin Hester (Chicago Bears kick returner)
Tom Brady (New Englan Patriots quarterback)
Brett Favre (Green Bay packers quarterback)
    Allen Iverson (Denver Nuggets guard)

Adrian Peterson (Minnesota Vikings running back)
Reggie Bush (New Orleans Saints running back)

If we were to get those caliber of athletes to play soccer in the United States, we would be VERY dangerous!!!

Good point, Jon C, although I think there are more than a few existing US soccer players who are on a par with these guys athletically speaking.

But, to stretch your idea, maybe we should add Steve Nash as coach…

  6. Brian Says:

I would say at present that the US is better.the US wouldnt lose to croatia with our starting eleven on home soil.

CLUB FOOTBALL IS STILL OKAY. IT’S THE NATIONAL SETUP THAT HAS TAKEN A BEATING AND REALLY NEEDS TO SORT OUT ITS MESS.
