This will happen, in time that all premiership clubs will have at least 85% of non english players. Its not going to be any good for the national team, when people like Gerrard, Lampard retire who will be good enough to replace them.”
I have a different cut on this. If you want to be the best, you have to play with the best and those Englishmen who do make it through to Premiership first teams will be better players because of playing amongst some of the best foreign players in the world. Anyhow, it looks like the adoption of 6/5 will solve the problem, if indeed there is one.
not really. should it be the best to play for england? then, with the great competitiveness in premiership we will c the likes of rooney, gerrard and lampard more often. just look on how good agbonlahor and young are….england needs these players
We’re 5 and 0 in our WC qualifying group – you can’t do better than that. For years people have been saying that the foreign player influx is ruining the national team.If we’ve got a good coach, we’ve got the players.
When the likes of Gerrard and the other senior players retire my team would be
GK Ben Foster (Man United)
Defenders
Mikel Leigterwood (QPR)
Nedum Onuhua (Man City)
Michael Manciene ( Chelsea)
Ryan Bertrand (Chelsea, currently on loan at Norwich)
Midfielders
Adam Johnson (Middlesborough)
Fabrice Muamba (Bolton)
Jack Wilshere (Arsenal)
Craig Gardener (Aston Villa)
Strikers
Danny Wellbeck (Man United)
Frazier Campbell (Man United currently on loan at Spurs)
Subs
Joe Hart (Man City
Joe Lewis (Peterborough)
Gary Cahill (Bolton)
Keiron Gibbs (Arsenal)
Lee Johnson (Bristol City)
Fabian Delph (Leeds United)
Jermaine Beckford (Leeds United)
Rickie Lambert (Bristol Rovers)
Richard Walker (Wycombe)
Well.. That’s why Fifa 6-5 rule will help young local talent to have more chance playing football for their teams in their own country.. but I am not against the idea of importing players.. but as of now there is no quota limit on how many foreign players can EPL team bring in..But I think there should be be one now.. Oh you can you use the rule that have been using in La Liga.. offer any foreign born player a citizenship… and make them English..
No, it’s poor resources and coaching at the school and youth levels thanks to decades of government cuts and liberal educators bias against team sports. If a British player is good enough he’ll make it into the top level regardless. Also, too many of the so called star players in the national teams today look at representing their country as a promotional opportunity rather than an honor and so aren’t as inclined to put in the maximum effort like their predecessors. Last but not least lets also remember that until Capello, the FA haven’t exactly made stellar selections for the England coaching job.
England may never produce players like these again.
Natural replacements for Gerrard and Lampard may never be found but young English players will always come through the ranks. You are talking about 2 players who are up there in the best players in the world category.
Play with good player, become a better player.
Competition for places, makes you work harder to get and keep one.
Better players will still shine!
i think so. i also think the media is effecting the national team. the players dont play with heart, desire and passion when playing for england, coz the media have put on so much pressure on them, n the players feel it, n they r scared to death of making a mistake
