How is Germany’s football team made up?

crayolacrayons27 asked:

Is Germany’s national football (soccer to us, Americans) team made up of All-Star players from their professional league? Or, is it a team all of its own that only competes with other countries?

All soccer clubs in Germany are organized in the German Soccer Association, there are hundreds of thousand players of all ages (starting from 3 years = Bambinos to senior).

Every club plays on a certain level (league) and can move up or down depending on the result of the season. The highest 2 Leagues are for professional players with 36 teams in total and appr. 35 players each = app. 1000 players +, appr. 80 % are german citizens

The Soccer Association employs a Manager and a staff of trainers an others which manage the team of the best players which form the National Team, usually 50 – 80 are considered to be able to compete internationally and they are permanently monitored.

Some of the players you see at the moment are very young, they played lower leagues 2 years ago, moved to a succesfull club and moved into the national team.

Every professional team is obliged to have a boarding school were young talents will get an education and will be trained for soccer (they usually start with 12 years and end education with high school at 18 or 19).

Sunday we play ENgland: the streets will be empty ! You could play baseball on highways – no traffic !
