Is it OK to wear an English football jersey while in Italy?

blaz asked:

I’m going to be traveling from the US to Italy and I was considering bringing a few of my EPL jerseys. Being that Italian teams play some of these teams in Champions League, will I get alot of attention for wearing the jersey of a ‘rival’ team?

Lol, it’s ok though, but have you seen the movie Euro Trip lol..if you have then i would suggest you don’t wear them lol..jk! but make sure that you don’t intimidate others, not that you would, but Italians seem to take their game and clubs seriously…it’s in their blood…be safe and GL!
i think ur good to go dude, Representing a club with its kit is always welcomed by the world!

Mate, you’ll be fine they’ll just look at you as a tourist, they’re not about to all Green Street Hooligans or Football Factory on you

Most parts of Italy are fine just be a little careful in Rome some areas english fans told not to go. I do not know if its the same in the off season. but thugs from any country seem to be of the same limited mentality. ask at the embassy they should be able to tell you all you need to know. Visit the San Siro a trully awsome stadium.

    well, let’s see.
it depends on the jersey. if it’s a well known team, like Chelsea or Man Utd… then i’d be a little cautious. Chelsea beat Inter and AC in this past summer, and Man Utd kicked Inter Milan out of the Champions League last season.
But hey, if i were going to Italy, i would wear my jersey loud and PROUD!

oh, and lots of Milan players were even signing Chelsea fans’ jerseys and stuff. So, if the players don’t have a problem, the fans shouldnt either.

sooo… if you’re not traveling in Milan, it should be ok.
(oh.. and just another thought… when the Finals were held in Rome, there were lots of violence between fans. An innocent American tourist who wasn’t even wearing a jersey or liked football was stabbed.)

    Ciao!
