The Italian football league is split into four tiers. There are three professional divisions: Serie A, Serie B, and C1 C2 and one amateur division: Serie D. Serie A is the premier division in Italy. UEFA classifies Serie A as the third best league in the world and IFFHS classifies it as second, but really it is the best league. Italy has produced the highest number of European Cup finalists, and the Italian national team has won the second highest amount of World Cups, including the last one in 2006, behind only Brazil.

The Italian Football League began in 1898 and was divided into regional divisions. Serie A began in 1929 when the league was nationalized. The Genoa club won the first ever championship and dominated at the start of the league, winning nine times from 1898-1924. Internazionale Milano won the first ever Serie A championship.
CURRENT STATE OF ITALIAN FOOTBALL
The Italian leagaue soccer today consists of twenty teams. Each team plays 38 matches. Every team plays each other twice, once away and once at home. Three points are awarded for a win, one for a tie, and zero for a loss. The team with the most points at the end of the season is declared the league winner. The team that wins the league is often referred to as the scudetto because the champion gets to wear a coat of arms with the Italian tricolor on it. Teams that win ten league championships get to add a golden star to their team logo. The three worst teams are relegated each year and replaced by the three best teams from Serie B.
As of April 30, 2009, 19 of the 20 Serie A teams declared that they will be breaking away from the rest of the Italian football league. This happened partly due of the recent financial crisis because the best teams want more financial autonomy. The league will likely begin in 2010.
There is also the Coppia Italia competition which includes all teams from Serie A and Serie B. This competition uses a seeding system based on the teams’ performances from the year before. Juventus and Roma have won the most titles, with nine each.

Juventus has won the most Serie A championships with 27 and is the only Italian team with two gold stars. La Juventus ha vinto il maggior numero di campionati della Serie A, ovvero 27 ed è l’unica squadra italiana con 2 stelle d’oro.La stagione ’40-’05 e ’05-’06 è stata vinta dalla Juventus ma le partite sono state invalidate a causa del coinvolgimento nell’inchiesta degli incontri truccati. Fu penalizzata con la rilegazione alla Serie B nella stagione ’06-’07 . E’ una grande rivale dell’Internazionale Milano.
Il Milan ha vinto 17 campionati di Serie A ad ha una stella d’oro. Ha vinto anche la maggior parte delle competizioni internazionali di tutto il mondo.Ha anche diviso lo stadio con i rivali dell’Internazionale Milano. They share a stadium with rivals Internazionale Milano.

Cat woman has correctde your text perfectly, but i just want you to know that from 2008-2009 season serie c1 and serie c2 have changed names. now thy’re lega pro prima divisione (or pro i) and lega pro seconda divisione (or pro ii). pro i is divided in two groups (A -north- and B -centre and south-). pro ii is, instead, divided in three groups (A -north- B -centre- and C -south-).
