Is there a rule stating women cannot play premiere league football?
mrworried asked:
Just out of interest, I’ve never heard anyone acknowledge the english premiere league or other equivalents (la liga etc) as male only. If a woman was good enough to play with the likes of ronaldo etcetera, would they have a chance of getting signed? And if women cannot play premiere league football, or if there are seperate gender divisions, why do you think so?

the English FA has a rule that boys and girls can not play in mixed *** games after the age of 13 or 14 i think its 13
so no a women could not play for Liverpool’s male first team or any male team but only if Liverpool had a female team.
the fact is men are just to strong for women

I would be surprised if there were actually such a restriction.
For anyone who insists there exists such a law or rule, I would ask for them to provide a reference.
Gazza, Tin-God: Provide a reference please. You’re both just guessing.

Let’s put it this way. If women want to play on men’s teams, do men have the right to play on women’s teams? Even the Olympics are gender specific.
How many women are good enough to play Premier League Football compared to how many men are good enough to play WSL?
@William, i’m guessing nothing. If women were to play Men’s football, then men are entitled to try out for women’s football teams. That would really put a spanner in the works.
I guarantee that you will never see a woman playing in the football league.
How many women play NFL, NBA, MLB or NHL? They obviously have their own leagues.
How many American men are good enough to play for the USA women’s national team?
Maybe the next women’s world cup will see a striker with a beard.

There are women’s premiere leagues. Despite they are definitely not as popular in the state let alone the UK, but there are premiere women’s teams. Not in the States tho. And no Women can not play for Manchester United (Men) Just like Wayne Rooney can’t play for Manchester United women’s Premiere team. (If MANU has a women’s side.)

Yes there’s rule by the FA which only allows mixed football up to the age 13. It used to be 12 but they increased it.
But this year there was a whole new debate because of a girl who wasn’t allowed to take part in her teams cup final. So the FA were said to be considering increasing it again.
A few years people were talking about how there is no such rule in Italy preventing women from playing in the Italian league. I doubt men would be allowed to play in the women’s Italian league though. I could remember all of the details of what happened, it will come up on google though. I think a Serie B team signed a woman or something.
I watched the QPR v Aston Villa match the other week and seeing matches like that it’s no wonder the women don’t play against the men. If they were making tackles like that on women, there would be uproar, people saying “you can’t do that to a woman”.
Also if women were allowed to play in the mens league, then it would only be fair to allow men to play in the women’s league. Then they may as well combine the two as a whole. But then there would be other complications because not enough women would be good enough to play at a decent level or be able to cope with the physicalitys. Then there could be women only teams playing against others at amatur level and people setting up private female only tournaments.
As it stands adults can play mixed football in this country as long as it’s something seperate which the FA doesn’t have control over.
